Regional Adventures
There are numerous recreation and sightseeing opportunities within a day's drive in Oregon and nearby Washington.
Columbia River Gorge - Take the scenic route by exiting I-84 at Sandy. The road takes you to a historic overlook and past several waterfalls and parks, including Multnomah Falls. A great day trip.
McMenamins Edgefield - Extensive gardens, several restaraunts, and a hotel in Troutdale. A favorite stop on the way back from touring the gorge. Photo courtesy of Mount Hood Territory
Mount Hood
Territory - Lots to do on the mountain and in eastern
Portland. Mount St. Helens - A nice visitor center and view of the recently active cinder cone.
Timberline Lodge - A historic lodge at the highest elevation you can drive up Mount Hood.
Cannon Beach - Classic Oregon Coast, water sports, and a cute town.
Oregon Wine Country - Just to the south of Portland and famous for its Pinot Noir.
Oregon Gardens - In the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country.
Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum - An impressive collection of vintage and modern aircraft, most of which fit under the impressive wingspan of the Spruce Goose, the world's largest airplane.
Lewis and Clark Trail - A number of historic sites and markers are located along the Columbia RIver.
Astoria - An historic town on the Oregon coast at the mouth of the Columbia River.
