Childcare and Day Trips for Kids

With a recent grant from the Elsevier New Scholars Program, we are continuing to offer childcare services to parents who will be attending Evolution 2010. We have received funding to support these new programs for the Evolution conferences from 2009 to 2011. We encourage all members to take advantage of these opportunities, which are detailed below. If you have any questions about either of these two programs, please contact Leah Larkin or Heidi Meudt.

 Day Trips for Kids

For the first time we are trying a new service for kids who may be too old for on-site care.  'Hit the Road' day trips will be provided by educators from the the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). OMSI has extensive education programs, day camps, and field excursions, and is extending their services to include single-day trips exclusively for our Evolution 2010 attendees. Trips will cost $60* per child/per day.  Parents or legal guardians of a participating child are welcome to tag along at no extra charge. Trip participants are required to bring their own sack lunch, snacks, and water bottles. Trips will leave from the Oregon Convention Center each day at 8:00 AM and will return between 4:30 and 5:00 PM. Minimum age is 8 years.
